Halloween Mantle Decorations

We decorated for fall, now we transition to Halloween! With one week to go till trick-or-treating, it’s time to start thinking about spooking up your house!  Your kids or the neighbourhood kids will appreciate the fun you add to this season of ghosts and ghouls!

We started with the fireplace. Our Thanksgiving pumpkins can easily transition from fall decor to Halloween.  Why not take it a step further with a little black paint, black marker, or even carve them out to be jack-o-lanterns to add to the theme of the mantle?

Next came the spiders! Our kids love these bouncy spiders because they are BIG! By placing them on top of the mantle, it gives you the feeling they crawled out from some dark place behind it.  Having them placed higher up gives you the feeling they are watching you! Extra creepy!

Finally we added in the banner.  Because we already had our decorative prayer beads from @sugarbooandco, we kept the flags lower on the mantle to emit fun colours and draw the display together.  They tie in nicely with the orange of our pumpkins & black of the spiders!

As we get closer to Halloween, we can always add in some fake cobwebs over our artwork and pumpkins. Or add in some pillar candles in black, orange or red to give our mantle the feeling of being in an old spooky mansion.  But for now, while we enjoy the lead up to the big night, I think we’ll just let the spiders be in charge of creeping us out!!
